Beatrice Queen has always had a controlling personality since childhood. With her parents focused on her more successful siblings, Beatrice sought control and attention from other people starting with a couple of kid cronies she took from a local bully. As she got older, she took command of much stronger thugs and started a criminal empire. She even was known to associate with a mobster by the name of Mr. Beck (OS Ready to Rumble). After his arrest, she took control of his territory and men and expanded into new businesses, most notably chemicals. She even found a newly developed chemical that was scrapped because of it's ability for "suggestive control", with this her numbers grew, and she started to form a "hive" of sorts with drone servants.

Beatrice wanted to have even stronger drone workers to control, so she found Dr. Animo and "persuaded" him to create mutants out her minions like he did for the bug mutant, Clancy. But to perfect the process, Animo needed chemicals, DNA, new equipment. Beatrice give him what needs and at the presentation of the new mutants, Animo betrays her and puts her through the mutation process to get back at her for his poor treatment and imprisonment. Beatrice starts to mutate into a bee-human hybrid but she escapes from her mutation pod during the middle of the process and crashes all around the lab until she crashes into a chemical vat and is doused with her mind control chemical. Now she's a bee mutant with the ability to release mind control pheromones to control everyone around her, no longer Beatrice Queen, only Queen Bee.
