Puffin Rock by Zigwolf Puffin Rock by Zigwolf
Over the weekend while I housesat at my sisters place, I binge watched Netflix and this new series by the name of Puffin Rock caught my eye and I decided to give it a try and after a few episodes, I was hooked. I know it's for little kids since Nick Jr made it, but this is an entertaining cartoon with some good characters and stories. For people who haven't seen this show, the two puffin in the picture are the main characters Oona and her baby brother, Baba. Also here's a trailer for the show www.youtube.com/watch?v=e07HoS… if anyone wants to see more.

Cute. This is the only fan art of this cartoon so far. I just found out on Netflix about this yesterday and love this show. I'm an adult and I don't care that it's for kids. I love cartoons and think they are well done and educational.

Thanks. Yeah I noticed that this was the only fanart around when I tried lo look up other fanart here. That's my kind of thinking, cartoons shouldn't thought of as only for kids liking it. Adults can like it and it can funny and random or well done and educational like you said, cartoons can be anything and still be good.

Maybe it's just a very new cartoon. But there aren't many good cartoons about birds anyway.  I love birds though so this caught my attention right away. I should find time to make some art of this. I wish it were out on DVD.  Yes so true. Shows that say things like for Age 4-8 isn't really true. You don't have to follow that exactly. I will always love cartoons be they for really young kids or for an older audience.   I collect toys still and always will. I promised I'd never grow up and I never did.

Yeah you're right about that, the only other show I know that includes birds is Harvey Beaks and that's barely ever on. I wish Puffin Rock was out on DVD as well, I'd get it right on the release date. I just hope it has extras on it, I'm a big DVD/Blu-Ray extras kind of guy. Like it would be cool to see how the show was made and the voice acting as well. Exactly, if something can be enjoyed by people of any age then it shouldn't matter if it was made for a certain age group. That last part speaks to me so much I'm in my 20s and I still like to buy toys for myself and enjoy kids stuff. I still a kid on the inside even if some people only want to see me as grown up.

Yes I hope they release it soon. I'm the same way. I love seeing the director at work as well as the voice actors. That side of production fascinates me. I'm looking forward to the release of Inside Out in Nov and I will get the blue ray that has the most features. I hope they include a lot of behind the scenes stuff. Plus as an artist I'm also fascinated by the programs they use. I only use photoshop but would love to get my hands on those programs or those fancy computers the use.

I'm glad you feel that way too then. I'm in my early 40's and my husband brought me some new toys he found at Toys R Us today that made me so happy. He found one figure he almost got me but it was damaged. We have a day off tomorrow so we're going out to another Toys R Us to go figure hunting. I love it when we get on an obsession and hit all the toy stores in search of that rare figure. I LOVE that. Especially if it's successful.  You might look like an adult physically but never grow up in your head. Best decision of our lives.

I hope the DVD behind the scenes is something like this www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTXFG1… an informative way to show how the series is made but fun enough for kids to watch as well and maybe get some of them wanting to work in animation in the future. I'm doing the same, getting the Inside Out Blu-Ray, it seems that Blu-Ray is the way to go when you want the extras, DVDs only have the bare minimum of extras like two or three while BR has like 9 extras. I also like seeing how movie artists draw and what they work with when it comes to programs and devices. I'm just amazed at how they can draw and the transition that is shown sometimes that will turn into the final look of the movie. I actually came across this recently (go to 2:40)  www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSbkn6… and really wish I could draw this way.

Wow that is fantastic, that's what I'm hoping to find in a girlfriend, someone who will love going with me to a toy store and we'll go to every part of the store together looking for toys and figures we really like and want to buy. Very true about looking like an adult but never growing up your head. I'm mature went it's called for but any other time, I feel like I'm 12. I especially felt like this when I went to my friend's birthday at a park and when it turned dark and we were the only ones left in the park, me and my friends went on the swings and park jungle gym and were really acting like kids during that time, it was the most fun I've had in a while.

I watched those videos. Yes I want more of this.  So cute. Love the sketches and I love that they get inspiration from real nature. Though the show is stylized I LOVE that I can ID the animals and plants on this. My background is in biology and identification is one of my favorite things. Also some very lovely scenes in this.
WOW, that's an awesome program. Holy cow. A virtual reality art program. I'd love to see my own characters in that.  Hum, look tiring though :XD: One reason I never got a Wii was it was too interactive. I prefer to sit while I game and same goes for my art. That Little Mermaid with the bubbles was so neat.  It must feel very different too. I'm sure my art would look terrible the first times I try it until I get the hang of it and the feel.  Yes, about Bluerays. DVD's seem to be the bargin disks now for when you dont' want to shell out twenty plus bucks. There are some movies I'm fine with just the bare bones version but others I have to have everything.  I just found out about Penguins of Madagascar. So funny and wity. I have the cheap DVD version and hope to get the full blueray because I do want to see the behind the scenes stuff. Netflix is a great place to find movies and I just discovered that too.  But you seem to have to got through a  lot of bad before finding a gem.

It's been wonderful. I hope you do find a girl like that. Nerd girls are kind of rare but when two nerds get together that have the same interests it's awesome.  I'm hoping today will be lucky and we can find that Fear figure I just found out about. We love going to electronics stores too and checking out cameras, DVDs, laptops etc.  I like to travel with my favorite toy as well to get photos in funny situations.

Yeah I wish I can life drawings like that, I think it would be awesome to be able to look at something in real life and be able to draw it in a different or cartoony way. Wow, that's really cool that the detail of the show is great enough to tell which plants and animals are from simply looking at them. Yeah that VR program looks awesome, so many possibilities with that. I get what you mean, I'm the same with getting comfortable when I play games or do art, getting interactive with this could be a bit much at the start. I agree, I thought Beast was good but that one with Ariel was really great. I think that even with some failures at first, they would still good to look at and it would be a fun experience getting better at it. Definitely agree with DVDs being bargain disks, even the companies making them feel that way. Cartoons most of the time are thrown out as volume DVDs with 3 or 4 episodes at a time because companies don't want to make a full season set. I think the case with this is the people making these think kids want them out as fast as possible and think kids don't care about extra features so that's why we get those volume dvds, plus they're a lot cheaper to make. Oh yeah, you're right about Netflix and getting through a lot of the bad to find some of the good stuff, I see it as totally worth it when I find something and I'm hooked.

Well I'll keep on hoping for that. Good luck with finding that Fear figure. I love doing that same thing at electronic stores, It's just really fun to see all that stuff and testing it out seeing how they work. That last part is pretty funny, I might try that for myself and see what comes out.

I was questioning whether to give it a chance or not. Seeing that another person has a fondness for it always helps motivate. Hopefully I'll get to meet these little scamps before the end of the week.
